From: WIND ENERGY, the 3rd issue, 2008 CASC Hands Together With EWT On Developing Direct Drive Wind Turbine Market
On June 26th, Chinese Academy of Launch Technology (CALT) announced today that it has established 4 joint ventures with Emergya Wind Technologies NV (EWT). Produce EWT©\CASC direct drive wind turbines, to meet continuous demand in China wind power market and expand overseas market.
The 4 joint ventures are: INNER MONGOLIA CASC©\EWT DIRECTWIND TURBINE MANUFACTURER CO., LTD. (assembly), INNER MONGOLIA CASC ROTOR BLADE MANUFACTURING CO., LTD. (blade manufacturing), BEIJING EWT©\CASC DIRECTWIND MARKETING AND SALES CO, .LTD (turbine sales), and BEIJING CASC©\EWT DIRECTWIND SERVICE AND AMINTENANCE CO.,LTD (service and maintenance).
CALT is an organization specializes in research, development and production of launching technologies, and one of the major launch service providers for worldwide commercial satellite. Recently, it has been developing civil industry such as wind power generation, and has cooperated with many suppliers worldwide in wind industry. CALT has formed a basis of advanced technology and qualified persons, and owns advanced equipment manufacturing and processing
EWT is a Dutch wind turbine supplier specialized in the development, manufacturing and sales of the advanced direct drive (gearless) wind turbines. The 750 KW and 900 KW models have been widely used in Europe, Asia and America.
Compared with traditional wind turbines, direct drive turbine do not require a gear box. The direct drive technology has less drive change losses, is easier to maintain, improves output and has the advantages of being easier install & maintain, has a longer lifetime, smaller size and lower operating costs. Direct drive is the developing trend worldwide in the wind industry.
According to the contract mutually signed by CALT and EWT, a factory will be established in Inner Mongolia, to produce 900KW direct drive wind turbines. Blade manufacturing factory will also be established for the purpose of providing blades for direct drive wind turbines. Both sides decide that a direct drive wind turbine marketing & sales company and service & maintenance company will be established in Beijing. The Inner Mongolia assembly factory and a blade factory are under construction, and will be put into production before the end of this year. It is expected that first batch of products will be available by the second quarter next year. Meanwhile, a contract for developing 2MW permanent magnet direct drive wind turbines has been signed. The 2MW permanent magnet direct drive wind turbines will be put into market by the year 2010 according to this contract. |
